This site offers wisdom and practical tools to face the challenge of aging with grace and dignity.

Life can be overwhelming for aging adults, especially those with disabilities, and their families and caregivers.

The vision and practices related to aging, grieving and dying that you will find on this site come from two sources:

  • L’Arche Canada’s 45 year experience of care giving and community building based on deeply committed relationships. L’Arche offers a unique perspective on the contribution of those living with intellectual disabilities to our understanding of how to support people who are aging and fragile.
  • Our learning from many others, individuals, organizations, and government.

You may be a family member, a friend, caregiver or health practitioner of someone with a disability who is aging and becoming more fragile and dependent. It is our hope that you will find inspiration and practical support as you explore this site.

Please give us your feedback or offer a contribution of your own. Together we can support and honor our loved ones who are approaching the end of their lives.

This website resource is offered as a public service by L’Arche Canada.

For everything there is a season
And a time for every purpose under heaven
A time to be born and a time to die…
